MLWS III: Hell of a Christmas Ch. 7Argument“I have to go with you,” Sarah argued to Jane while Amelia watched at the doorway of Jane’s room. “It’s me he’s after.”“Absolutely not,” Jane said tossing her hair clip into the air, it twisted and elongated in the air before a scythe dropped into her hand. “I took you here to protect you if you go there now…”“He’ll either devour me or drag me to hell instead of my friends,” Sarah argued with a shrug. “Fair trade-off.”“It’s not,” Jane told her. “No matter how you slice it, it’s an innocent child being eaten or dragged into hell.” “Really?” Sarah challenged, “Are you prepared to risk your niece? Your brother?” Jane stared at her for a long moment, “You were listening.”“Neither you nor Amelia were being quiet.” Sarah said, “Are you ready to risk them?”Jane glared at Sarah. “We’ll be talking about you eavesdropping later,” She said “I don’t want to risk anyone, which is why I’m going to help. Stay here.” Jane said as she hurried through her room picking up her cloak, and scythe. She tied her hair back up in a ponytail.“You told me my friends and family would be safe,” Sarah said her arms crossed in front of her. “You told me….”“I know,” Jane said pinching the bridge of her nose. “I hadn’t expected…” She started then stopped, “I had hoped that if Krampus could see you weren’t around, he’d leave your family alone.” She sighed. “I was wrong,” Jane said.“Jane made a lot of mistakes,” Amelia said. She hadn’t moved from the doorway and Jane turned to glare at Amelia, but Amelia continued unperturbed “But she’s right, you getting yourself in trouble will just undo all the trouble Jane went through to get you here.”“But…” Sarah tried. “I can fight,” Sarah turned to Jane “You taught me how to fight. I can manage myself.”“Not for this,” Amelia told her. “I fought him 400 years ago, with just a decade of training under my belt, if it wasn’t for the fact that as a grim, I regenerate. I’d likely be dead. You, with only 3 years of training, are not ready.”“What about Jane’s charges?” Sarah asked Amelia while turning to Jane. “Dylan and Travis? They only have a few years under their belt. Are they fighting?”“No, they’re not,” Jane said, “They’re on patrol duty, they’re to contact me or Amelia should they find Krampus and leave it to us.”“You expect them to obey?” Sarah asked skeptically. She’d met Dylan and Travis; they were reckless in ways that would make Jack Frost look timid. “More than that, now that Krampus has been found you expect them to stay out of the fight?”“They will,” Amelia said grinning in a way that showed all her teeth. “If they know what’s good for them.”Sarah swallowed against her will. “Ok… but…”Jane put a hand on Sarah’s shoulder and gently guided her to the bed and sat her down, Jane knelt on the white cloud-like floor beside her. “Just trust me,” Jane said. “Or if not me, trust the reaper who has fought Krampus before and succeeded.” Jane gestured to Amelia “We can manage him.”Sarah closed her eyes and tears fell down her cheeks, she wanted to argue more, but she also knew that the longer she argued the later they’d be. So, almost against her will, she nodded. “I just…” Sarah said. “Please don’t let him hurt anyone I love?” She said her voice high and reedy as she talked through her tears.Jane paused for a moment before she smiled and ruffled the young teen's hair. “Of course, I will.” She said before kissing her on the forehead. “Your friends and family will be safe.” She promised.“And reassure my family I’m ok,” Sarah said. “Somehow, I know we’re not supposed to but….”“I will,” Jane said with a gentle appeasing smile before opening a rift in space. Sarah could just make out North’s workshop, but before she could even think to run up and through Jane walked through the rift and it closed behind her.Sarah turned to Amelia, Amelia smiled knowingly before she turned and raised her voice. “Ella, Gretchen, Thomas.”Three reapers, who all looked to be only a few years older than her came in.“This is Krampus’ main target,” Amelia said pointing to Sarah. “You are to make sure she doesn’t try to escape.”Sarah’s mouth fell open. “Amelia!” She complained.Amelia smiled smugly. “I know what you're capable of,” Amelia said. “I’m not about to leave you here by yourself where you can get into trouble.“Why are watching Krampus’ target, Krampus targets the naughty.” A girl, with long blonde hair that was twisted back into a braid, said crossing her arms. “Shouldn’t we just give her to him?”“Gretchen.” Amelia said sternly, “We don’t work that way, and we don’t decide where souls go. You know this”“Besides.” Said a cheerful redhead teen male who had to have been Thomas. “We would all be on the naughty list if we were alive. Or have you forgotten that being a Grim is a punishment?”Gretchen ‘hmphed’ and looked away.Which meant that the girl with shoulder-length brown hair and a shy expression was Ella. Ella didn’t say anything to Sarah just waved shyly before hiding her hands back into her cloak. That was another thing that changed, she could now see the reapers whether they were wearing their cloak or not. She didn’t know if that was because she was in their home or if the metaphysical pin prick had done more than just let her see the afterlives and made it so she could now see reapers regardless of what they were wearing.Amelia looked at each of them, “Do try to be gentle with Sarah.” She said. “She’s scared for her family.” Thomas, Ella, and Gretchen nodded (though it had taken Thomas elbowing Gretchen in the ribs to get Gretchen to do so.)Amelia glared at them all for a long moment before she suddenly smiled. “Good.” She said before she pulled off her broach and walked away flipping the broach in the air as she did so.
MLWS III: Hell of a Christmas Ch. 6KrampusImmediately after Jackie heard Krampus call for Sarah, Jackie’s opinion on Sarah's disappearance immediately changed from “Where is she?” To “Thank goodness she’s gone.” She had no idea if this Jane had taken her or not, but she didn’t care at least she wasn’t in danger from whoever this beast was. Beside her, Will fisted his hands, his look darker than it had been during the confrontation with Pitch. “What do you want from her?” Will asked through gritted teeth. “You of all people should not have to ask me that William Williams.” Krampus said, “especially considering what she forced you to do, to your brother.” Had this not been a terrifying moment, Jackie might have laughed. Will’s last name was Williams? He was literally named twice? Sarah wasn’t kidding when-Jackie’s inner thoughts sobered immediately, Sarah wasn’t here and this monster was after her this was not the time to be laughing. “She wasn’t herself.” William said, “It was the sand… she…” “Oh yes,” Krampus said with a laugh. “The sand, oh so convenient that the sand gave her permission to do what she’d always wanted to do in the first place.” Jackie took a step back. “No, you don’t know what you're talking about.” Krampus smiled and looked up at Pitch. “Oh, I know exactly what I’m talking about. Isn’t that right? Boogieman?”“The sand… it doesn’t give you new nightmares, it takes your pre-existing fears, and moulds them into nightmares. Likewise, I didn’t give Sarah any new impulses, I just took away any good impulses she might have had that would have tempered all the bad ones, and ramped up her anger, fear, and hurt until it was all she could feel.”“So Sarah, always wanted to hurt our older brother?” Will asked softly sounding horrified. “No” Pitch shook his head. “There was subconscious anger, I think at the entire town.” “She loved Santoff Clausen.” Katherine argued. “She would never…” Pitch nodded, “Yes, but also anger, Sarah… she wasn’t well-liked. Some children of the village viewed her with jealousy because she was Jackie Bennett’s best friend. After all, the moon chose her specifically to be Jackie’s friend.”“I wasn’t Jealous of her,” Will said softly, but the uncertainty on his face made Jackie doubt.“I was.” William the Mean said quietly. “I mean it makes sense, why she was picked, Nicholas was raised in Santoff Claussen and could help Jackie with magic, while Sarah and Jonathan were both around her age and were being raised in the outside world. But a lot of us from Santoff Clausen were irrationally angry because we had known about magic for generations, and Nicholas was the one who was picked to teach her.” “Yeah,” A girl said looking familiar though Jackie could place (Though based on the way her dad was clenching his staff told her that he did.) “My family and the Williams family have been in Santoff Claussen since Ombric was in charge. And yet…” “Were you jealous of her too?” Jackie asked Will, the closest friend Sarah had at Santoff Claussen. Will stared at Jackie, for a moment before he looked back down “At first.” Will admitted, “But that died out when I met her. She was kind, and gentle, and just wanted to help you. After a talk with my parents, I realized that it didn’t matter who was your friend, what mattered was why. And Sarah… she didn’t care that you were Jack’s daughter, she cared that you were lonely, and forced to hide, but also had a good heart, she saw you needed a friend and wanted to be that friend not because you were powerful, but because she loved you.”Jackie stared wide-eyed “She didn’t even know me.” “Yes,” Krampus said taking his moment to step in. “So how could her actions have been any less selfish? She didn’t know Jackie from Eve.”William glared. “Sarah is the least selfish person I know.” He snapped at Krampus. “Then why is she a thief?” Krampus laughed stepping forward slowly. “Why was she on the naughty list for five years even before she was kidnapped by Pitch?” “Because she’s loyal to her best friend.” Jonathan said glaring at him, “Santa refused to believe the letter she’d written, so she decided that if Jackie couldn’t get presents neither would she.” Jackie stared at Jonathan wide-eyed, Was that why? “And yet you just hid Jackie’s desires in the letter you wrote” Krampus. Jonathan rolled his eyes even as he felt his parent's eyes on him, “So we had different ways of showing our friendship… so what.” “Is what you have with Sarah friendship?” Krampus asked. “Then why keep secrets? Why keep the jealousy, and the anger a secret? Seems to me she wanted to be naughty and Jackie being invisible was a convenient excuse.”“You are delusional,” Nicholas said stepping forward in front of Jonathan, Jackie and Will. On his shoulder Nyx cawed indignantly “My daughter has made mistakes…” “Mistakes yes… like you did. When you made that love potion for Selene, be thankful I’m here for your daughter and not for you.” Nicholas didn’t say anything else instead he just stared at Krampus, Jackie couldn’t see his face but she could imagine that he was staring at Krampus in shock.“So, Sarah has been naughty,” North said stepping in. Jackie startled at seeing him there, she hadn't noticed he'd returned. Had it really been that long? “It doesn’t mean she deserves the punishment that you give. You went overboard all the time Krampus.” “And you went too soft. Coal for Christmas? What does coal do to punish kids? No, all naughty kids deserve to be expunged.” That line sent Jackie reeling, “How dare you? So Sarah’s made mistakes, so what? She doesn’t deserve to change? To grow?”“Kids like her don’t change,” Krampus said with a menacing smile. “It’s in your best interest to give her away, she’s lied to you too much, and she’s kept too many secrets. Wouldn’t it be better to look for a friend who has fewer flaws? The doubt crept in, almost against Jackie's will, was Sophie really that bad a friend? There was murmuring around the Santoff Clausen residents horrifying sounding like they might agree with Krampus. “Don’t pretend you care,” Bunny snarled and for a moment the spell broke. “You never cared about the children. No one who cares about the children does what you did.”Krampus laughed, “Oh and you do? All you care about are the golden lights on the globe.” “That’s not true. The Guardians do care” Jack shouted before the doubt could fester again, “And I know Sarah has made her mistakes, I know that she hasn’t been this perfect girl, but she is the greatest friend my daughter has ever had, and I’ll be damned.” He said his staff started to glow blue-white with snow, “If I let a monster like you take her away.”And just like that, the entirety of the pole was ready, and the fight began....
MLWS III: Hell of a Christmas chapter 5Warning: There is a small mention to one of the characters being formally suicidal in the past, it's brought up once, and then not again, but even still if that's something that triggers you please take care of yourself. Sarah“Sarah.” “Jane!” Sarah said her smile wide and happy before it fell into a frown, mirroring the one Jane must have been wearing. “What’s wrong.” “You and I need to go.” “I’m about to head to the North Pole,” Sarah said as she lifted the skirt of her red dress with a black lacy trim before letting it fall again. “See? It’s why I’m so nicely dressed.” “You do look lovely,” Jane said. “But we have to go.” Sarah looked confused. “Why?” “Because there’s a creature after you, and anyone on or has been on the naughty list at any point in the last 400 years.”Sarah blinked before she cursed, in what sounded a lot like Latin. “What are you doing with the others?” “You are the one he wants most of all.” Sarah to her credit only looked confused for a moment before she nodded. “Because of what happened 3 years ago.” She said. Jane tilted her head down in a half nod “We have everyone we can spare tonight looking after any child he might want to deal with, but you, I think, would be better off if you were somewhere further away.” “Why?” “Because if you stay, your family may be in danger.”Sarah looked toward the door. “But won’t they worry if I just disappear? I can’t just leave with nothing.” Jane sighed and eyed a notebook on her desk. “Bring me that.” She said pointing to the object “And a pen.” Sarah did as she was told and handed Jane what she asked for, it took Jane two minutes to write the note.To the Jessup family,Sarah is in grave danger, and as such, I have taken her with me to better protect her, apologies for not telling you in person, but time is of the essence. I will bring her back safe and sound when the danger has passedFor a moment Jane paused for a second before signing it:“Jane Overland”When Jane was done writing, Sarah put it down on her desk where they would hopefully see it when her mother, father or brother inevitably came in to see what was taking so long. Sarah looked at Jane for more instructions, “Where are you going to take me?”“My home.” Sarah’s eyes widened even as her heart started to speed in excitement, “That’s an afterlife, I can’t see the afterlives how can I enter it?”Jane nodded, “You can’t see them because you’ve neither died nor have ever been cut by a scythe.” Jane said, “however I can remedy that.” Sarah’s heart almost stopped and she stepped away, “I know, I was suicidal once but…” “Calm yourself, child. I have no plans to kill you or separate your soul from your body.” Jane said. “I mean that I plan on giving you a small metaphysical cut on you with my scythe, small enough so as you can see the portal and enter through it but not so big as to detach your soul from your body.”Sarah tilted her head as she stared at Jane “You’ve done this before.” Jane nodded, “mistakes happen during a reaping, and they’ve been fine afterwards, when you’re safe, I can have you healed in a moment, and you’ll be fine.” The scythe melted in her hands to as small as a pin, Jane had been there for her for years, Sarah reasoned. She trusted that Jane wasn’t going to put her in danger. Besides, Sarah had always wanted to travel and see Jane's home. She stepped forward and held her finger. Just before Jane could prick her finger, Sarah had a thought. "Wait." Sarah said. "Nyx. My Raven, she's out flying right now." Jane sighed, "I'm sorry. " Jane said. "But it's a risk bringing you..." She started. Sarah hated the idea of leaving her bird behind, but she trusted her parents to take care of Nyx. Still, "Nyx will be frightened." "We have the note, and Nicholas speaks Raven." Jane reminded her. That was true. Sarah hated the idea, but if she was gone, things would be a bit safer, she nodded and held out her hand once more for Jane to prick. There was no blood, no pain, but there was a difference that Sarah didn’t know how to describe, a lightness that she hadn’t felt before. Jane eyed Sarah for a moment before she nodded and pulled out a scythe. “Let’s go.” She said taking her hand and ripping a rift in the air. Sarah’s eyes widened at what she saw on the other side, a giant golden gate, a large Victorian house that had 1000 rooms, that rested on clouds that were as white and soft as marshmallows.Sarah stared at Jane and smiled before they jumped through the rift, not realizing that the note Jane had written had fallen off her desk.Sarah hadn’t had much time to look around the house when she got there. The moment they’d jumped through the rift Jane had pushed her through the house as quickly as possible pushing her through a door with a sign on it that said “Jane’s room.”“Stay here, it will be best if very few see you until I sort this out,” Jane had said once Sarah had enteredSarah looked up at Jane but smiled hesitantly. Jane paused for a moment before giving Sarah a hug, “You’ll be home as soon as possible,” Jane said. “I promise.” She said before closing the door and leaving Sarah to her devices. That had been hours ago. With nothing else to do, Sarah had looked around Jane’s room. The walls and bed and dressers and vanity were all white, so white in fact that if Sarah hadn’t known better she would have assumed they were made from the clouds that the house was resting on.That wasn’t to say there was no colour, there were a few photos on the vanity. A photo of Jane and a woman that Sarah had never met but knew to be Amelia, Jane’s mentor from the early days. They were standing side beside arms around each other as they stared into the camera. The picture that Sarah had given Jane for Christmas; a photo of the two of them together Jane’s arm around her shoulder and Sarah’s arm around their waist with Sarah’s arm extended off frame to take a photo with her camera. She smiled pleasantly surprised, she had expected Jane to keep it, she hadn’t expected it to be put on her vanity where she would see it every day. There was a third picture, one that surprised her, a photo of Jack Frost in a brown cloak instead of the blue hoodie, his face turned away from the camera as he stared up at the moon, but Sarah would recognize those bare feet and messy white hair anywhere. Sarah was surprised to see the photo there, she hadn’t thought any of the guardians were of interest to Jane, but perhaps Jack was different? He was the less likely to be prejudice… so it did make sense Sarah mused before moving on from the vanity. The closet was interesting it had mostly black clothing that spanned from the 1700s all the way to the present day except for a blue gown from the 1700s, a green gown from the 1800s, A jacket from the 50s, and jeans that could have been from the 90s to present day.She just been in the midst of trying some of the black clothing that looked more her style, when she heard the sound of arguing from just outside the room. “You brought her here?” Sarah overheard she turned away from the closet and made her way to the door to better hear\ what was being said, having the oddest feeling that they were talking about her.“Where was I supposed to put her? If I hid her anywhere on earth she would have been found the moment midnight hit.”“Jane,”“Three years ago, we drilled into Pitch’s head that he was not to kill anyone and that if he did we would bring him down. Now I’m being punished for… what making sure another malevolent spirit doesn’t drag Sarah into-” So they were talking about her.“Of course, I’m not,” Amelia said cutting her off. “But here?”“It’s the only afterlife that’s not strictly an afterlife. It’s close enough to the Gate that malevolent spirits will be turned away.”“I’m not criticizing your bringing her here, I’m questioning how you got her here, the living can’t enter here, let alone see it.”“That’s not true,” Jane said.“Jane…” Amelia said. “What did you do?”“I pricked her finger with my scythe.”“For fucks sake, Jane,” Amelia shouted, Sarah, blinked at the cursing. “Do you have any idea how dangerous that is?” Sarah blinked.“I had to do something!” Jane said, “Or should I have risked her being dragged into hell or eaten?”“No of course not.” Amelia said, “But why not just look after her in the land of the living?”“This was safer, Krampus can’t enter it as far as we know.”Sarah could hear Amelia breathe exasperated. “I knew when your niece was born, it was going to cause problems, I wasn’t expecting the problem to come from her best friend.”Sarah blinked Jackie was Jane’s niece? But she was over three hundred years old… so either there talking about Sophie or Jackie being a niece multiple generations removed… or…Sarah thought about the photo she’d just found on Jane’s desk the photo of Jack Frost. How Jane had a brother who died saving her and Jack had died saving his sister. How Jane always seemed to be extra interested when the conversation turned to Jack or Jackie…Sophie barely managed to not back her head on the door, how on earth had she missed it? Jack and Jane were siblings. How in the hell had she not put it together before now?“Sarah isn’t a problem.” Jane defended. “And I don’t just hang out with her because she’s my niece’s best friend. I like Sarah and I feel sorry for her. She’s been through a lot.”Sarah looked down, She had been through a lot, she’d also put her friends and family through a lot, and yet Jane still wanted to be around her… even as she distanced herself from Jane’s family – especially as Sarah had distanced herself from Jane’s family.“That’s worse,” Amelia argued, Sarah snapped her head up in shock. “You know you’re not supposed to make lasting relationships with mortals.”“I know Lia. But she was suffering, I couldn’t just…”“Yes, I know. You’ve explained. It’s just dangerous Jane, what happens when it’s her time and she must be reaped, or worse, she has to go to an afterlife you don’t agree with.”“I’ve made those tough decisions before.”“Not with someone you're close to.”“And I likely won’t be making that decision with Sarah either, so it’s not a problem.” Sarah was oddly touched by that declaration. Jane had once told her that to avoid unfair judgement, people didn’t reap those they were close to or related to. The fact that Jane was outright admitting that she would likely not be reaped by Sarah meant that Jane viewed herself to be close to Sarah. It made Sarah happy to know that Jane liked her and was willing to admit to it behind her back.“And that’s not to mention the danger you put her in when you sliced a living person’s hand with your scythe. Please tell me the cut isn’t that big?” Sarah blinked, Jane had assured her that pricking her finger with the scythe was not a big deal. Had Jane lied.“It’s a pinprick, we’ve fixed accidental scythe cuts before. We can do it again for Sarah before she leaves. I did actually think this through Amelia. Besides the scythe cut isn’t a problem when the soul is still firmly attached to the body.” Sarah took a deep breath of relief. “Yes, but her heart stops just once and her soul will detach. Making it that much easier too-”“Good thing I have 0 plans to let that happen.”Amelia groaned. “Fine. What are we going to say to the council.”“We were told to protect potential victims. Sarah is the one with the biggest target on her back, so I brought her here, where he was less likely to find her.”“Fine, I’ll handle the council, you try not to do anything else more stupid.”“Thank you.”Then suddenly a loud voice spoke, its voice carried throughout the entire house, “All Grim Reapers battle stations, Krampus has been located at the workshop and home of Nicholas St. North.”

Jack and Kiara 2: Recollection by BlackBeeNo3569
7th Anniversary by BlackBeeNo3569
Storytelling, When Pitch finally returned back to the Lair, it was just past the dawn. While the sun was raising up on the sky, it’s light was weak, hidden behind the heavy mass of clouds. He decided to walk a bit through the forest to clear his head, it had been a long winter night. The war was too long, too tiring by that time and the fears of people lost a lot of their initially fresh, sharp taste. Taming the wild fear wasn’t exactly a pleasant work either. He walked through the crispy snow, the night was once again clenched within the severe freeze. As the nights tended to be those days. The forest was filled with long shadows, gloomy morning for another cold, grey day.Descending to the underground he noticed distant frolicking reflections of flames. ‘She has to be back home’, he thought. Surely it was the fire in the fireplace, sending warm glints over the high walls of the hall. The hall was actually a rather small place, at least when compared with other spaces in the Lair. There wasn’t much to it except for the remarkable fireplace – wide and impossibly high open chimney, an absolutely straight channel for the fire. Of course the magic was involved – that way the open fireplace never needed much of wood, neither it let the smoke into the hall. In the old days it used to be a place for many celebrations, feasts or just talks by the fire. Then for a long time, Pitch didn’t use it much. But now, with Hazel around, it turned out to be the natural place of their meeting again when they came back home or for their talks. The warm darkness of the hall with its crimson gleams seemed to elevate even Hazel’s grief. Not that they would talk about it – but here, by the fire, it was slightly easier to be silent about it.He found her there, sitting on the old carpet with a worn pattern, her back resting against the sturdy armchair. Facing the mild fire, she opened her eyes when he came closer. He tried to guess whether she had been crying again or not.‘You came home quite late, today,’ she said quietly.Home. Was he ever thinking and talking about the Lair as home that much before? And yes, she had cried. He could tell by the sadness lingering in her voice.‘I didn’t go through the shadows, but rather took a walk through the wood,’ he answered her and sat down next to her. He felt like that answer meant pretty much nothing, so he added: ‘It was a busy night. I wanted to clear my thoughts a bit.'She smiled and nodded: ‘And did it work?’He scoffed a little at the question. ‘We’ve been blessed with an extraordinarily bleak winter. Morning just fitting the night.’‘If you didn’t like the greyish freeze the Winter King sent upon us, you should at least rest here,’ she said with a mild smile, but Pitch could hear and see that the sadness still sat in her throat and eyes. There was no way how to really help her, except for dispelling it away for here and now. He caught her by surprise when he laid his head on her lap and touched her cheek.‘You might be right, I need to rest a bit. But you look like you could use a little distraction, too,’ he said. And it worked, Hazel looked down at him with amusement in her look and said: ‘Well, if that’s so, you know what I like the best to clear my mind.’And indeed, he knew. She loved his stories, tales from the old times and places, whether they were about spirits or humans – but usually they were about both. So he started to tell some ancient story, a myth or a legend if someone else told it, but simply true memories in his case. Hazel rested her head against the armchair and closed her eyes, letting her mind to slip into the old times in the rhythm of Pitch’s words, gently stroking his hair with her hand.He could see how much calmer her face became. And what started as a bit of a joke, slowly got into a much quieter moment. When he hid her other hand in his own, it felt so natural, that neither one of them knew if it was intentional or not.The story kept going, the flames were heating the hall and Hazel felt the weight of his head, neck and shoulders against her legs. She already got to know the permanent tense that his body was usually in. She couldn’t but notice how that familiar feeling is slowly fading away, while he rests on her lap. Only then she realized that she is not the only broken one in the Lair. They’ve barely talked about it again, but now she fully understood that Pitch must be living with a very similar pain of loss as she is. But for much longer time. Somehow she was moved by the fact that at least now he could feel a bit of relief. Just the same as she was feeling.Slowly the sweet sleepiness was creeping into his mind and body and it was too powerful to fight it. Pitch found it very difficult to continue the story, with the warmth of the fire and of her body, with one of her hands in his hair and the second safely hidden in his palm. Pleasant numbness was closing his eyes and stealing the words from him. When he stopped talking, it took Hazel few moments to notice it. She got sleepy as well. She smiled when she saw that he was fast asleep. She had never saw him sleeping, except for that one night under the oaks. She continued to stroke his hair, as she didn’t want to wake him up. Well, only until her thoughts turned into the dreams, too.
